Corruption has assumed centre stage in public discourse in recent times. From being a concern only at the ethical level for individuals and institutions, it has become a social and political concern that is getting articulated in social and political terms.

In view of the change in the dynamics of the public discourse, there is a need to reassess the issues and concerns that animate the narrative of discourse. There is a growing demand for good governance and corruption free society from the people of India.

As the apex integrity institution in India, set up in 1964 to address vigilance administration and related matters the role of CVC, both as an accountability institution and oversight body, has become significant. It has evolved over the decades from a single member body to multimember statutory body.

The demands of a dynamic polity require an appraisal to understand the demands on the CVC and to examine how these issues can be addressed through a multi-stakeholder consultation.

The Commission has been engaging with various international anti-corruption agencies/organizations, as a measure of international co-operation. Creating a Knowledge Management System for International Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities (IAACA) has been one of the recent collaborative initiatives.
